Corso de la Lavande is a popular event which takes place in Digne-les-Bains commune in region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France.
What date is the Corso de la Lavande 2020 ?
This is a free and open festival for everyone. Additionally, this is one of the most important annual manifestation of the Alpes Cote d’Azur Provence region. Each year up to 15,000 people take part in the festival.
The festival begins with a firework display over the river and is followed by four days of lavender-themed festivities: parades, marching bands, floats covered in the mauve flowers and a nightly ball in the main square of this spa town.
Digne’s lavender festival parade has been running since the second world war. Even older is the lavender fair, which takes place at the end of August, once the harvest is in.
On the first night, there is a grand opening with music, followed by fireworks and a grand ball on Place General de Gaulle. Saturday is dedicated to a grand parade of folk groups from all over the world.
In this region, August is known as “the Lavender month”. During the Corso de la Lavande, the whole city is adorned in its most beautiful colours and takes everyone to the land of dreams, scents, and amazing flavours.
This is also the best place to find high quality lavender products, such as essences, home-made soaps, honey, and stuff like that. The festival was originally organized as essence samples fair to promote the lavender properties to the greatest perfumers.
