The April fair - Feria de abril de Sevilla is the fair that generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa.

 For one week life in Seville revolves around this fiesta. The music, food, dancing and general joy create a very special atmosphere during this traditional holiday.

This is one of the most popular holidays in Sevilla during a year. In English we can call it simply as an April fair. It was originally created in 1847 as a small cattle fair and over time had grown to one of the most popular events of the year in the Andalusian capital of Seville.

Feria de Sevilla usually starts on Monday with the lightning test.
 The fiesta officially begins at midnight on Monday with the lightning test, the illumination of the thousands of multi-colored light bulbs in the fairground and adorning the main gateway, which is almost 50 meters high and has a different motive each year.

 Once inside this gate shown above, you come to the "casetas" or tents where you can really experience the real power of the fair. These tents belong to groups of friends and associates, and are a family space where guests are welcomed in and offer you with delicious food and wine.

The most of the tents are privately owned and can be entered only by invitation from the members or their friends. There are however public tents which are open to all.
Throughout the whole feria de abril sevilla, people wear traditional Andalusian dress. The men wear the typical outfit of the farmworker and the women wear usually flamenco hand-made dresses.
