Over 1800 artists from 93 different countries were interested in participation until now. The Amsterdam light festival produces approved installations together with the artists.
Exhibiting more than two hundred light art installations, the Amsterdam Light Festival has become one of Europe’s most important light art festivals. The main mission of this light festival is to bring people from diverse backgrounds together during the dark winter nights.
The festival adds beauty to the city during the darkest months of the year where you can view the amazing light sculptures created by artists in public spaces either on foot, by bicycle, or by canal boat as well.
One of the most unique experiences is the renowned Watercolor canal cruises where you can explore the festival from the water. This way you may get up close to all the major artworks presented during the festival.
There is also the Illuminate walking route where you can explore the festival on foot. A variety of programs, activities, and events also take place at museums, theaters, restaurants, shops, and other locations in Amsterdam during the festival.
You can also take an evening dinner and drinks cruise on special boats as well. Most boats are heated and covered to make sure you won’t get cold during your trip.
